CC - I : Why did Vasantasena fall in love with a Penniless man in Mrichhakatikam

Vasantasena is a rich courtesan of the city of Avanti, or Ujjain. She has all the riches of the world. But one day, in the early dawn, her eyes met the adorable form of Charudatta  in the temple of Kama. She went their to offer her oblations to the god of love and Charudatta was there too to carry out his share of the rites. Once she saw him, she was smitten by passion and immediately fell in love with him. The depth, truthfulness and intensity of Vasantasena's love is attested by the fact that even after she comes to know that Charudatta is in a state of penury, having lost all he had through an evil turn of  fate, her love does not diminish but intensifies. Vasantasena is impressed by the way Charudatta has taken the turn of events within his stride and has not allowed penury to either contaminate his characteristic elevated bearing, not his judgment of the world. his steadfastness even in the face of misfortune has continued to remain his most enduring quality. This is what made Vasantasena fall in love with Charudatta, despite him being a penniless man.
